Representative alkali-resistant glass fibers for cementitious applications

Project-Specific Sourcing

Alkali-Resistant Glass Fiber

AR glass fibers for GRC/GFRC and compatible cementitious systems, supplied as project-specific chopped strands, integral strands or rovings after process and alkali-resistance review.

Project-Specific Sourcing

Cementitious compatibility

AR glass is different from general glass fiber

Alkali-resistant glass is formulated for cementitious environments. Fiber chemistry, zirconia-related alkali-resistance evidence, sizing and product form must match the GRC/GFRC or concrete process.

MaterialAlkali-resistant glass suitable for cementitious use.
FormsChopped strands, integral strands or assembled roving.
ProcessPremix, spray-up, dry mix or another verified method.
FunctionCrack control, toughness or GRC/GFRC reinforcement by system.
DurabilityManufacturer alkali-resistance and aging evidence.
SupplyGrade, packaging, MOQ and lead time confirmed per quotation.

Two common production paths

Fiber form follows the manufacturing process

Premix

Chopped strands in the matrix

Fiber length, integrity, dispersion, workability and mold filling are balanced for the premix process.

Spray GRC/GFRC

Roving chopped at application

Roving chopability, spray equipment, fiber loading, orientation and compaction shape the laminate.

General concrete uses

Use the intended AR grade

Ready-mix, precast, mortar or UHPC applications require a product specifically supported for that use.

Buyer and fabricator inputs

Send the process before requesting a grade

A useful inquiry identifies how the fiber will enter the cementitious system and what finished element is being produced.

  • GRC/GFRC, premix, spray or mortar process
  • Component thickness and finish
  • Required strand or roving form
  • Target fiber content and production rate if specified
  • Applicable durability and mechanical tests
  • Packaging, quantity and delivery destination

Fiber form and production process

Chopped strands and roving serve different workflows

Premix chopped strandPre-cut AR glass is dispersed into the cementitious mix; strand integrity, dispersion and process compatibility must match the intended component.
Spray rovingContinuous assembled roving is chopped at the spray head and deposited with the cementitious slurry in a controlled process.
Dry-mix / mortar fiberShort AR glass formats may be designed for wet or dry formulations; use only the source grade documented for that process.
Alkali resistanceGeneral E-glass is not an interchangeable substitute. Obtain the selected AR product data and durability evidence.
Technical propertiesStrand length, tex/fineness, filament diameter, sizing and mechanical properties are grade-specific.
Storage and supplyPackaging, storage guidance, MOQ and lead time are confirmed from the proposed source per quotation.
